All About Us

Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® MD 40-3 is based in DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. We are an Association of Combat Veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who ride motorcycles as a hobby. As a registered 501(c)(19) veterans’ charity, our mission is to support and protect those who have defended our country and our freedoms. Our focus is to provide assistance and help to individual veterans, veteran care facilities, other veteran organizations and registered charities. We sponsor and participate in many veteran-related motorcycle (and other) charity events each year, and as a non-profit organization, donate to various veteran causes.

Our membership is comprised of Full Members (those with verified combat service), Supporter Members (those who have non-combat military service and have a strong dedication to helping veterans), and Auxiliary Members (Spouses of both Full and Support members). We have members from all 50 states and numerous countries abroad, including combat areas.

Please note that we are an ASSOCIATION and NOT a MOTORCYCLE CLUB (MC). Although we may be in a geographic area, we do not claim territory. We do not have a club house. We do not wear cuts or colors, but rather vests. The patch on our back is one piece.

Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® Auxiliary Scholarship Program

The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® Auxiliary (CVMA®-A) administers a scholarship program for CVMA or CVMAA members and their spouses, children, and grandchildren. This scholarship fund is supported by Auxiliary dues and donations. The Auxiliary Scholarship awards are unrestricted other than the requirement to attend an institute of higher learning seeking an Associate's or higher degree during the year of the award. The applicant must be a CVMA or CVMAA member, spouse, widow, legal child, stepchild, or grandchild of a CVMA or CVMAA member. All CVMA member types are eligible as scholarship sponsors (Full, Support, or Auxiliary). Members must be in good standing at the time of submission to sponsor an applicant. Each year the total amount awarded, and the number of awards given is determined in relation to the dues and donations received.

Please consider making a donation so that we may continue helping our CVMA® family.

The Patch on My Back

My vest is full of patches both old and new;
Representing places I’ve been and things I do;

Most on the front and layered in a stack;
But none say more than the patch on my back;

I earned it in battle as a Combat Vet,
It serves as a constant reminder to Never Forget;

The first thing you’ll notice is the Skull and Spade,
A reminder that the debt of war is never paid;

Every color has a meaning and a story to tell;
And every story has a meaning we know all too well;

To show unity as Warriors we use the Military Gold;
For every Branch of Service both new and old;

Red represents the blood that my Brothers and Sisters have bled;
Not all known by me, but a tear for each I have shed;

With heavy hearts we display the symbolic color Black;
For the Missing, the Prisoners and those who never made it back;

Yes, I know it’s just a patch – made of cloth and thread;
But because of what it means I’ll respect it until the day I’m dead!
