Hero to be Laid to Rest at Arlington

Writer's picture: "Hacker" Kendall Hackney"Hacker" Kendall Hackney

LTC(R) Gene Hill, a retired Korea and Vietnam War Veteran (Silver Star / Bronze Star with V Device, Purple Heart, CIB x 2 plus more) (Infantry / Special Forces)

He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery on 27 July. The service is at 1pm EST on Joint Base Meyer-Henderson Hall, VA at the Old Post Chapel.

Attendees should plan to arrive via the JBMHH main gate, process through security and be at the chapel no later than 30-45 min prior, so 1215-1230 on the 27th of July. The Cemetery Representative will guide the attendees to return to their vehicles to form the procession following the chapel service. The procession will move into ANC and proceed to the grave location where his wife is already interred, in Section 57 Grave 396.

CVMA DC 53-1 member Drew "Storm Chaser" Deaton is helping his daughter get his uniform ready, as she has no one else to help. He will be at the Chapel in dress uniform, so if anyone from CVMA or elsewhere choses to participate, we would appreciate letting us know. More information to follow on KSU time / location.

Right now there is only a tiny handful of family for the service, so we truly hoping we can get at least a few to come honor this highly decorated Warfighter. If any of our active-duty members choose to participate, they are welcome to wear their service dress uniforms if they care to do so, or their CVMA attire if they prefer.

You can let us know if you would like to help here on the Contact Page of the site. More information to follow.
